SUNBED COMBATS JETLAG

An increasingly dense air travel network and ever shorter flying times means that even the remotest corners of our planet can be reached in a relatively short time. Our mobility is virtually boundless.

Yet with the time differences this involves, we really get our biological clock in a muddle - with significant consequences. In looking for ways to acclimatise the organism to a different time zone as quickly as possible, findings are now being taken up from NASA who are using cleverly devised light drenches to prepare their astronauts for space flight.

The sunbed combats jetlag! According to The Wall Street Journal, the best time to get on a sunbed depends on the direction you're flying in: after night flights from the US to Europe, the best time for travellers to do this is the morning of the day of arrival. For people travelling to the US, the newspaper recommends waiting until the late afternoon or early evening before getting on a sunbed.
